How to Measure

While seated in your vehicle, have someone measure from A, your hand, to B, the saddle.
This should be the shaft measurement.
Next, measure from B, the saddle, to C, the point of the horse's shoulder. This should be the lash length.
(The popper is not included in the lash length)
This method is only meant to be a guide. The best way to determine what lengths work best for you is to try different whips, measure the one you're using now and decide if you want it longer or shorter. Remember, it's not how tall your horse or pony is, it's how long your carriage shafts are and how far your horse is from you.
